10.00am 25th APRIL 2009MID-CHESHIRE LORD DERBY COMPETITION
The aim of the event is to:
The competition will be held on a Saturday in April each year at Forest Camp The two winning teams will be selected to enter the Cheshire County event and then have the possibility to enter the North West Regional event. All competitions have a similar format. Each competing team should consist of six Scouts, all members of the same troop, but who may be from different patrols/teams within that Troop. There is no restriction on the number of actual Patrol Leaders or actual assistant patrol leaders in a team although one member must be designated as the Patrol Leader and another the Assistant Patrol Leader for the whole event on the day. All members of the team are expected to take part in the activity in every base. It will be the responsibility of the designated Patrol Leader to organise the team. The competing Scout’s ages must within the current age range for membership of the Scout Section, on the day of the Mid-Cheshire Lord Derby Competition. The team must have no members over the age of 14 and the average age (in complete years) for the team must be less than 13. (So the total of their ages must be 77 or less on the day e.g. 14, 13, 13, 13, 12, 12) The competition is organised by the Mid Cheshire District. The competition is a one-day event where the teams will spend a predetermined time at each of the eight(?) bases. Normally all the bases will be kept within the boundary of Forest Camp. Each base will consist of activities covering the various aspects of the Scout Section Training Programme. The activities will be related to Emergencies / First Aid / Rescue / Survival. Bases will be planned to include a mix of easy and difficult activities at which both the inexperienced and experienced Teams have a chance of scoring points, thus bringing the competition within easy reach of every Scout Troop. Marking will be on the basis of 30 points per base – 10 points for each of the three areas marked, Leadership, Team Spirit and Technical Skill/The Activity. ADC Scouts will arrange staffing and judging. Normally the judges will be Scouters, as they will be judging Scouting Skills acquired during the normal Scout Section Programme Training. It is not the intention of the competition to embrace more specialised training. E.g. there will not be any canoeing or climbing involved. Starting times may be staggered (but I hope not!). The cost of the event will be £3.00 per each individual. This is to cover campsite fees and any administration. The date will be the Saturday 25th April 2009 at 10.00am. The venue will be Forest Camp. Certificates will be awarded to all competitors. A shield will be presented to the winners and the runners up. It is the responsibility of the winning troops to have them engraved. The District Funds will meet the cost when I have the receipt. Do not hesitate to contact me if there are any questions.
