Hi,

The Dragon you asked about is not a dragon but a Griffin otherwise known as a Wyvern Sejant Argent. This can be seen on the Vale Royal Coat of Arms.

Hope this helps,  have added a picture of the Coat of arms.

Found this on the internet...

There is a chapel in the church of Middlewich which is dedicated to the Venables family. Thomas Venables once killed a voracious dragon which lived in the swamps of Bache Pool (or Dragon's Pool, or Dragon's Lake) at Moston. He did this by shooting it in the eye with an arrow, then attacking it with other weapons, as it was about to eat a child, finally finishing it off with his sword. A lane was named Dragon's Lane to commemorate the event.

The Dragon on the District badge is not a dragon but a Wyvern which is a mythical beast.

A wyvern is front half dragon and back half serpent.
