MID-CHESHIRE CELEBRATES 2007

Dear Leaders,

As you should already have heard, Mid-Cheshire District are to hold a Centenary camp at Forest Camp, Sandiway on the weekend of 22-24th June, 2007. The camp is open to all Cubs, Scouts, Explorers and leaders. Beavers are invited to join in the celebrations on the Saturday.

Our vision is that sections will camp with their group and the beavers will meet up with their groups and join them for the evening meal on Saturday. Explorers will all camp together as a district unit, which is something you will need to take into account if you have Explorers who are also Young Leaders.

The cost per person camping is £25.00.  This includes site fees, all activities, commemorative “goody” bag and entry to the Balloon race.  It does not include transport or catering.   The cost for Beavers will be £10 per person, which again will cover site fees, all activities and commemorative goody bag and entry to the Balloon Race, but not transport or catering.

Our aim is to offer lots of opportunities during the weekend, both traditional scouting and fun activities for everyone to enjoy. (See attached flyer)  An event like this will only be successful if we get adult support to help run the activities and support from all the groups in the district by coming along and joining the fun.  It is important that everyone is able to enjoy the weekend and one lesson learned from the District Anniversary camp in ’97 was that leaders cannot look after their sections and run bases and enjoy the weekend.  So, now is the time to invite all those other adults who regularly help you or those who are always saying those magic words – “if you ever need any help, just give me a shout”  Now is the time to start shouting!

Just remember to get those CRB forms sent in to our new Warrants Secretary Theresa Murray as soon as possible. It still takes approx 12 weeks to process.  Her address is at the end of this letter.

To get your group involved, all you have to do is complete the attached booking form and return it together with a non-refundable deposit of £10 per person or £5 for Beavers and non camping Beaver leaders.  These should be returned to me by 5th March.

Cheques should be made payable to Mid-Cheshire District Scouts.

Obviously it will be possible to adjust your places for new members etc., but we need a good indication of numbers to ensure that we can make maximum use of the funds we will have available.

If your group or section has not yet offered to run an activity or base, please contact the District Commissioner Mike Gerrard on 07910152703.

If you would like any more information, please do not hesitate to contact me.  My number is 07703650672. The information will also be available on the district web site www.midcheshirescouting.org.uk.
